Reel Big Fish - Fame, Fortune & Fornication

"As 10 músicas que nós deveríamos ter escrito", diz Aaron, vocalista da banda Reel Big Fish, na propaganda do último álbum da banda que estampa a maioria das revistas de música norte-americanas.

O álbum traz 10 covers, entre já regravados pelo próprio RBF - como "Brown Eyed Girl", de Van Morrison, e Monkey Man, da banda Toots & the Maytals; regravados por outras bandas do gênero - "Talk Dirty To Me", da banda Poison, que conta com a participação de Tatiana DeMaria, vocalista da banda TAT e já havia sido regravado pela banda Regatta 69 para a coletânea Metalliska; e inéditas, como "The Long Run", da banda The Eagles.

Diga algo sobre metal-farofa, e a capa do disco é a primeira e única coisa que virá à sua cabeça. Curiosidade: Muitas pessoas consideram a música Monkey Man como de autoria da banda The Specials. Apesar da versão do Specials ser uma das mais "famosas", eles também não foram a primeira banda a regravar a música: Byron Lee & the Dragonaires regravou a música em 1975, quatro anos antes da regravação do Specials. Além dessas bandas, o próprio RBF já havia regravado essa música para o filme The Wild Thornberrys, e ela conta com regravações de bandas como No Doubt, Melt Banana, ORESKABAND, e pela Amy Winehouse, com muitas pessoas - tirando os fãs da Amy, lógico - considerando essa como a pior versão da música. E eu não discordo.
